Cuba's state run media--is there any other kind in Cuba?-- is reporting that Castro is passing the torch to a fellow comrade, an eighty-year-old communist who has been Castro's red-handed man since the commies took over the island.
I sure hope that under the new leadership, they still maintain a better health care system than the United States...
Isn't that one of the greatest bullshit stories the libs have ever told?
The ambulances in Cuba are Russian cars made in the 1950's, the hospitals have no band aids, and Castro thinks when you say "penicillin" you mean "peninsula".
Please, I would rather die in an American sewer than go to Havana and have Castro's doctors operate on me...

He's Not There To Help
I'm so naive. I thought this guy Baby Doc returned to Haiti because they needed pediatricians.....

He's On The Way.....
They were going to have a traditional state dinner at the White House honoring the Chinese president. But to show how culturally sensitive the Obama White House is, they changed the starting time to 3pm and called it a lunch special.
She Loves It
With the Chinese President visiting the White House, Michelle Obama announced for the first time in her adult lifetime, she is proud of her country.....
Two Guys
I love this picture of these two men. One guy is the most powerful Communist in the world. And the other guy is the President of China.

Take Care of Your Own
With Ireland about to go bust- and its creditors unwilling to accept Guinness to settle up accounts- Stoop pal Andrew weighs in on the debt crisis, and the need for America to look out for us, and fuck foreign aid:
The Bono Lessons:
I usually get my inspiration while jogging and listening to music. Today it was while listening to U2's "40" and thinking about the sad state of affairs in Ireland. I wonder if Bono woke up this morning, turned on the TV, saw the thousands of his fellow countrymen marching in the streets and thought, "Jeez, maybe I should have devoted all of my charitable efforts to those suffering in my homeland rather than spending millions on people in a far away land?" I'm sure Bono, like most Irish people, has a good heart and, while things were going great in Ireland, he thought he was doing a noble thing. He could comfort himself with that thought. Or he can realize the truth. His country, like many other countries, including the USA, lost track of taking care of their own instead of taking care of others. I mean, of all the people in the world, haven't the Irish suffered enough? Now they are going to be debt ridden to Europe for generations and their poor people are marching in the streets. Maybe Bono should have spent his time helping his own country and maybe he should do that now. If you're reading this and think this is off base, well, wait until the debt crisis happens here. The riots of the 60s might look tame compared to what could happen. If that happens (and we are all praying it won't), will we look back and feel good about the trillions of dollars we poured into far away lands only to be humiliated and insulted in return. Take South Korea, where they are attacked and yet they can't even defend themselves after decades of military support and worse, they insult our President at the G20 summit. Or take Europe where we saved them from fascism and now they look at us in scorn? How about Iraq and the broader Middle East where we got rid of Sadam and now we are enemy number 1? Or Indonesia where our people gave billions of their own money outside of taxpayer dollars and we sent in our Navy yet the Indonesians hate us and blame Obama for not "doing more" to mend so-called Muslim-American relations? The list is endless (Africa, Haiti, etc.).
What have we gotten for all of our kindness and money spent? Not even a "thank you card". Nothing. Think about if we had instead spent all that money and effort in the USA on our people. Don't we deserve it?

Obama Over There
Stoop pal Andrew weighs in on Obama's overseas trip, the reaction of the locals ,and how they need to step up their game:
After the recent national wipeout of the Democrats from the recent elections and the new era of government, it could be easy to gloat and continue to attack the President's policies. But I thought I'd take a moments following the great election of 2010 to instead adopt a little hope for the time being. I will begin by praising the President when he did something two years ago when he was then President-elect that I thought paid tribute to and honored one of my favorite, but little-known and often ignored national traditions. Following the election of 2008, when the financial crisis was at its peak and President Bush took his last trip to Europe, President-elect Obama said clearly that he would honor the tradition of not criticizing the President when he was abroad. And during the time that President Bush was in Europe, Mr. Obama followed that tradition. Perhaps it was the first time that Mr. Obama ever thought about that tradition or perhaps he was employing it because he saw the future and wanted the benefit of that tradition, I don't know. What I do know is that, at the time, I liked it. I have always followed it and thought it was one of the great traditions in America: Don't criticize your President while he is abroad because he is my President represents you and me and if any country has a problem with the President at that time, they have a problem with me. Party affiliation dies when the President is abroad. (I actually also follow the inverse tradition as well--when I am abroad, I defend my Nation from those who disagree regardless of the issue).
So when I recently read that, while he was visiting Indonesia and the rest of Asia, the President has been loudly criticized by many foreigners for purportedly not doing enough to fulfill President Obama's promises to repair Islamic-US relations or, for instance, that the President's economic policies are upsetting China and other non-democracies, I say to those criticizing the President: Baba Booey! First, of course, if those of you reading this in other countries don't know what Baba Booey means or who Baba Booey is, you opinions are irrelevant. Seriously, though, as to the President's alleged failure to repair Islamic-US relations, I say on behalf of America and my President to those in the Islamic world who believe in this criticism that it's your turn to step up. Let's begin with a huge "thank you, Mr. President" for our country's heroic and unprecedented assistance in responding to the 2004 tsunami disaster. Meanwhile, let's see some good ol' fashion steps toward a rejection of extremism and adoption of democracy. Let's see some marches in the streets in Jakarta and Beijing demanding freedom and equality for all, including women. Let's see a protest march and a universal rejection for those who criticize the dude in Indonesia who claims he felt "forced" to shake the First Lady's hand. I mean, are you serious? Is that issue even worth a discussion? As for other criticisms about economic policy, China has more balls than a Christmas tree to attack the President for his response to help his country. To you in Commie land, I say once again Baba Booey.
In short, here's to the President's prompt and safe return to America. At that time, we can get back to the partisan games if we must, but for now--while our President is abroad, let's stick together as one Nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Russian Error
The Russians made a crucial mistake with these spies. They should have set them up as ACORN employees, that way, they would have been assured of getting everything they would have ever needed from the Obama Administration.
Why Spy?
Thoughts on the Russian spy case:
Why do they need to spy? Obama gives them everything they want already. They could have filled out a Freedom of Information Request for enriched uranium and Obama would have handed over the keys to the store.

Stoop Dreams: Arizona
Mister President, Mister Immigration Man,
Let me in, sweetie, to your fair land.- "Rip This Joint"-Rolling Stones
Things are much too divisive in this country. I think the time has come where we focus on things that unite us as Americans. How about we all get together under a big tent?
One thing that unites us is homosexual marriage. We are united as a nation in being against it. I say that only because it has been put to vote via the referendum process in 31 states. In all 31 states the people have voted to not permit homosexual marriage. Think about that: 31 for 31. Even Steve Nash can't match that from the free throw line.
Another thing that unites us is immigration. As a nation, we are against amnesty for illegal aliens. And we want our immigration laws enforced. That is not just me speaking; poll after poll show that between 70%-75% of Americans want our borders secure in addition to not rewarding illegal aliens with citizenship. 7 out of 10 or 3 out of 4 is a pretty strong majority, no?
Which brings us to Arizona, which shares a border with Mexico. The Mexican government has a very unusual policy: it exports its citizens to America. Whether we want them to or not. And as I stated above, the overwhelming majority of Americans don't want Mexico to engage in this practice.
But it would be silly of us to rely on Mexico to stop this practice. After all, the Mexican government does not represent us. It represents Mexicans, and rightfully so.
So we look to our government to enforce our laws that reflect the will of our people. And we have those laws on the books. Good solid laws that prohibit unlawful immigration into this country. But alas, laws without enforcement are like Leon Spinks: toothless.
For the past 20 years, the federal government has enforced our immigration laws with the same resolve of OJ Simpson vowing to find the real killer. Even Reagan was bad on this issue. Hey, even Ted Williams struck out every once in a while.
And as a result, our borders are defended so poorly, you would think that Mike D'Antoni was the head of the U.S. border patrol. As Dennis Miller says, go to the Mexican-Arizona border at midnight with night-vision goggles. It looks like the start of the Boston Marathon with ponchos.
And so the people of Arizona have waited patiently for the federal government to enforce our laws. They have waited through the unrelenting border-related crime, the massive strain on its social services, and the unforgivable undercutting of the wages of Arizona natives-especially cruel at a time when unemployment is hovering around 10%.
But sometimes when your house is on fire, you can't wait for the fire department to put it out-especially when the fire department has made it clear that your house is not a priority.
So Arizona has done a sensible thing: it has passed a state law making it a crime to be in the U.S. illegally as well as allowing state law enforcement officials to ask people for identification to prove that they are in the U.S. legally.
Because liberals see illegal aliens as "soon to be registered Democrats", they have gone--surprise, surprise-- bat-shit since Governor Brewer has signed the bill into law.
But think about it: if our laws make it illegal for someone to enter the country what can be wrong with a law...making it illegal to be in the country? Listen, if Arizona passed a law that was in contradiction with federal law, the liberals would be right on this one. But this law just puts some teeth into the federal laws that are already on the books.
Liberals- who are issued smoke and mirrors as soon as they register as Democrats- say that this law will lead to civil rights violations. Don't you love it when the party of racial, ethnic and gender preferences wrap themselves in the mantle of civil rights?
So let's talk about civil rights. Liberals actually think that asking somebody for identification while they are running across the border is a civil rights violation. If they had their way--and they probably will by the way--the law would require that the same illegal alien receive health care, welfare, housing, food stamps and an ACLU card as soon as he set foot on American soil.
Speaking of civil rights, I was just wondering; how do you acquire them if you gained entry into America by violating our immigration laws? Isn't it like going to Macy's and demanding an employee discount while working at Walmart? A bank robber can't expect the bank to issue him a loan, right?
So far, Al Sharpton has said he will lead a protest in Arizona, and San Francisco has called for a boycott.
Let the good Reverend go down to Arizona. This is the man who led a protest at Freddy's Fashion Mart in Harlem saying that he did not want any white interlopers in Harlem. Later on, one of the protesters burned the place down, killing 7 people along the way.
So the Sharpton Doctrine is This: White Americans in Harlem-Get The Fuck Out; Illegal Aliens in Arizona- We Welcome You With Open Arms.
Let him lead the way. We can all use his moral instruction on how to treat others.
As for the San Francisco Boycott, all I can say is: PLEASE MEAN IT.
If Arizona cracks down on illegal immigration, and liberals promise to boycott the state, the Stoop will one day be in the desert sand.

Never Give Them Up
A closer reading of the President's agreement with Russia on nuclear disarmament reveals that it is modeled on the "toys for guns" programs we used to have in NYC. Turn is your weapon, and the government gives you a nice toy.
Here is how every American President should respond when world leaders ask us to get rid of our nukes:
Putin: "We think you should dismantle."
American President: " Mr. President, why do you want me to criticize the Yankee Hall of Fame Centerfielder?"
It should not be in our vocabulary.

They Can't Get Together
Here's the NYT's on Defense Secretary Robert Gates:
The New York Times reported in its Sunday editions that Mr. Gates had warned in a secret three-page memo that the United States did not have an effective long-range policy for dealing with Iran’s steady progress toward nuclear capability.
Think about that: The Secretary of Defense is saying that we have nothing in place to stop an out of control Islamic regime from acquiring nuclear weapons. The mere fact that he had to write this memo as a way to get the White House to focus on this says everything you need to know about how our security is compromised by Obama.
You know how a child acts out sometimes to get a parent's attention? Gates is no child, but this memo is his way of getting Obama's attention and telling him: "Deal With This Threat."
Lets see if I got this straight: the people who run Iran are crazy, and nuclear weapons are the most destructive weapons man has ever created. And we have nothing in place to stop this get together? Iran and nuclear weapons are like Whitney Houston & Bobby Brown: they do enough harm separately, therefore there is no reason they should ever get together. We shouldn't even let them acquire steak knives, never mind nuclear weapons.
But if the Administration is looking for a plan, Baldman has one for them.
When the Gulf War was imminent, Secretary of State James Baker took an Iraqi diplomat aside and told him in no uncertain terms: "Listen fuckhead, take this message back to Saddam: if you use chemical weapons, we will nuke you. You think I am fucking with you? I am not fucking with you."
Bottom line: they knew Baker was serious, so they never used chemical or biological weapons.
Regarding Iran, their crazy leader, the guy with the Members Only jacket has to hear a similar message. He has to be told that our nuclear weapons are not like fine China & Silverware. They are not just for show. That we like to take them out for a test drive every so often. And we will drop them on his head if Iran takes ANY STEPS towards building nuclear weapons.
Obama needs to stop talking about public options and start talking about nuclear options.
And mean it.

We Are Chum In The Water

Will they ever learn? The Obama/Holder cabal has decided to release a Gitmo terrorist and are sending him back to his homeland-Algeria. See the money quote by Andy McCarthy:
The Justice Department has announced the release from Gitmo of a terrorist who conspired to bomb Los Angeles International Airport in the 2000 Millennium plot. Hassan Zumiri, who was part of an al-Qaeda affiliated terror cell in Montreal, has been repatriated to his native Algeria — a country so rife with terrorists that it was recently placed on the list of 14 countries whose travelers warrant enhanced screening at airports.
If Obama directed "Jaws" the movie would have had a whole different plot. The shark would not have been blown to bits by Roy Scheider. Instead, it would have humanly captured & gently placed in the Coney Island Aquarium. Soon after, Obama would have announced the following: (1) great white sharks are using the sharks kept at the Aquarium as a recruiting tool; (2) we have disgraced ourselves to the world by keeping sharks in captivity; (3) if we continue to keep the sharks in captivity, it means that the sharks have won. Asa result, Eric Holder would have released the shark back into the Atlantic waters off the Long Island shore. To show how great we are, the release would take place on the 4th of July weekend.
And we all know how that would turn out, right?

Too Much To Bear
Today, no health care analysis. Nothing on Eric Holder. Nothing on the terrorists. Nothing on sports, the Supreme Court, Brooklyn or Ted Kennedy.
Today, just prayers for the people of Haiti.

We Have To Be Like Iverson In The War On Terror

There is a story that Bill Simmons tells about Allen Iverson in his excellent new book, The Book of Basketball that Obama needs to incorporate in our war against Islamic psychos.
Here is Simmons:
I remember attending a Boston-Philly game when Iverson was whistled for a technical, yelped in disbelief, then followed the referee toward the scorer's table before finally yelling "Fuck You!" at the top of his lungs. The official turned around and pulled his whistle toward his mouth for a second technical. They were maybe 25 feet away from me, so I could see everything up close. And I swear on my daughter's life, the following moment happened: As the ref started blowing the whistle, Iverson's eyes widened and he moved angrily toward him, almost like someone getting written up for a parking ticket who decides it would be easier just to punch out the meter maid. For a split second, there was real violence in the air. The rattled official lowered his whistle and never called the second technical. By sheer force of personality, Iverson kept himself in the game.
Look I'm not condoning what happened. It was a frightening moment. I specifically remembering thinking, "I am frightened." But I have not seen a basketball player bully a referee like that before or since, it was like playing an intramural hoops game against the football team and watching the biggest offensive lineman intimidate a 130-pound freshman ref.
We have to be Iverson-like in the war on terror. Like the referee afraid to call the 2nd technical foul on Iverson, we have to make the terrorists afraid to get on that plane or do anything else that would bring us harm. We have to make them think twice about the ramifications of their actions.
Now some my say how do you intimidate someone willing to kill themselves as long as it brings us harm? But every man is afraid of something. Every man. Whether it is his family being harmed/killed, his city being flattened or something else, we have to get to the point where they are the ref about to blow the whistle, but then they realize what would happen if they did blow the whistle, and that realization and fear of what would happen if they went through with it makes them put that whistle down.
America needs to project an Allen Iverson image to the world.
Let's do it.

Obama Says Yes To Profiling
From The NYT tonight:
U.S. Intensifies Screening for Travelers From 14 Nations Citizens of 14 nations including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Nigeria who are flying to the United States will be subjected indefinitely to the intense screening at airports worldwide that was imposed in the aftermath of the Christmas Day bombing plot, Obama administration officials announced Sunday.
Obama must have read the copy of "National Security For Dummies" that I sent him for Christmas. Or perhaps he got hit in the head with a surfboard in Hawaii, and when the cobwebs cleared, he found his inner Dick Cheney. Whatever the reason, I applaud the move. But as my liberal friends always say when the feds increase spending on social programs by the billions: THIS IS ONLY A GOOD FIRST STEP. WE HAVE SO MUCH MORE TO DO IN THIS AREA.
For example, doesn't common sense dictate that if we are subjecting citizens of these 14 Nations to higher scrutiny when they fly to the United States, why doesn't this policy apply when they are flying within United States?
Give me some more change I can believe in.

The Gift
We know what Maureen Dowd received for Christmas-a brain. Even she get it:
If we can’t catch a Nigerian with a powerful explosive powder in his oddly feminine-looking underpants and a syringe full of acid, a man whose own father had alerted the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria, a traveler whose ticket was paid for in cash and who didn’t check bags, whose visa renewal had been denied by the British, who had studied Arabic in Al Qaeda sanctuary Yemen, whose name was on a counterterrorism watch list, who can we catch?

Tick Tock.....
A Good Friend from the Stoop came up with the following scenario:
The terrorist that tried to blow up 300 civilians on Christmas day (and who violated just about every major rule of war ever created) was Mirandized and indicted in federal court instead of being treated like an enemy combatant. As Spock from Star Treck would likely say, "Logic dictates" that in the future any terrorist who intends to commit mass murder will not be treated as an enemy combatant, but will be arrested and given all Constitutional rights of a US citizen. Now I pose the following scenario:
Terrorist arrested in New York City with the nuclear trigger.
FBI: "Where's the bomb!!!?"
Terrorist: "I want my lawyer."
FBI: "Uhmmmm"
Tick...tick...tick....
The nightmare continues.....

The Weather Report From The Stoop
So the world's leaders met last week in Copenhagen to discuss the weather. Out of this most solemn of meetings, the group consensus was that the United States is a pretty messed-up country. The current President of the U.S, Barack Obama, did not deny that the U.S. is a horrible country, he actually agreed with the assessment, but he assured the leaders of both the free & the un-free world that because of him, Barack Obama, the U.S. is going to be a country that they will look favorably upon.
And the thing that will make these countries look favorably upon the U.S. is prior U.S. Presidents. Specifically, a couple of dead ones. More specifically the dead Presidents that appear on U.S. currency. And the transfer of such currency to the countries that are at this moment, not real big fans of the USA.
Out of the weather meeting in Copenhagen came the idea that dictators like Castro & Chavez and Communist countries like China need cash from the U.S. so they don't chop down too many trees.
The actual dollar amount is $100 billion. A year. And that is just a start, a minimum commitment.
Now one of the big problems is the undeniable fact that the U.S. does not have the cash on hand. We are more busted than a blackjack player who hits on 16 and draws a king. So the U.S. has to borrow the money. From China. And part of the money we borrow from China, we will give back to China as a gift. So we will pay back all of the money we borrow from China with interest, and also throw them many billions of dollars that we borrow from them as a gift. If you think this sounds like you borrowing $100,000 from a bank and you pay the whole thing back to the bank at 6% interest, plus you give the same bank $40,000 for free as a gift, you would be correct.
So that is one problem.
Another problem is the billions of dollars we will be pouring into the bank accounts of Chavez, Castro, etc. We are essentially bribing Third World dictators to not chop down trees, build windmills and bicycle lanes, and build 40 foot Al Gore statues for their people to worship.
But, say they decide to take the money and not do what they agree to do? I mean part of the cool thing about being a dictator is that you do not have to listen to anybody. Nobody can tell you what to do, that is why you got into the dictator business.
So what happens then? Do we send in peace keepers, lets call them green peace keepers, and chain them to the trees in Zimbabwe so that Mugabe does not chop them down?
Do we have a Bay of Pigs II where we send in the green peace keepers to storm Cuba to furiously paint bicycle lanes in the streets of Havana?
Bottom line: the idea that a broke America will send $100 billion a year to dictators to bribe them into doing the right thing is insane.
Bernie Madoff's scam was more acceptable than this one.
