The Liar

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Trying to defuse a crisis that could give the GOP a powerful opening, Democratic Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal said Tuesday that he "misspoke" in claiming more than once that he served in Vietnam, and he dismissed the furor as a matter of "a few misplaced words."

What a piece of work this guy is. It turns out the closest he came to Vietnam was watching The Deer Hunter. It reminds me of a guy who told me his father died during World War II. Was it in the Pacific? No. Europe? No. He died in Brooklyn, but it was 1944, so it was during World War II.

You would think "Rambo" Blumenthal would slink away in shame-but liberal politicians are incapable of feeling shame.

My favorite part of the story is that it was given to the Times by Rambo's opponent Linda McMahon-the wife of Vince McMahon. Her opposition research consisted of having the Iron Sheik google this guy's military record. And that military record turned out to be as fake as a Vince McMahon -promoted wrestling match.

This just in: Rambo says he misspoke when he said he received the Purple Heart. What he meant to say is that he liked the movie Purple Rain.

If he loses, look for Obama to name him Secretary of Defense.
