As the Mets battle their way through this roller coaster season, Carlos Beltran is still down in Florida, where he has been cleared by the medical staff to lay around by the pool-and cash Fred Wilpon's checks. He is what I call a "NASA Player"-like the space shuttle flights, every conceivable condition has to be right in order for Beltran to even think about coming back. Anyway, Joe Benigno pinned Beltran out years ago as a guy who mails it in, and time has proven Joey B right:
